Welcome to My ePortfolio!
When I started my MLIS coursework at University of South Florida in the spring of 2019, I have already earned my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and was working full-time in a support role at the University of South Florida as an Information Systems Tech Specialist. With many years of experience as a computer support professional starting in my Army days, it was my dream to transition into a more liberal arts, creative field in my college coursework. However, my experience in the tech field has always been my bread and butter and having had college teaching experience and growing in the creative writing arena, I feel that librarian work would marry my two interests and my strengths.
My experience as a writer, journalist and podcaster has made me an effective communicator. I gained valuable leadership experience to lead and instruct others throughout the years as an English instructor and my experience in the Army.
Therefore, I have learned so much during my MLIS coursework. I learned how to create research guides, how to organize and analyze data, create a needs assessment, learned how to conduct research, and how to be a more effective leader. I have put what I have learned into practice and will continue to do so. The lessons inspired me to think into the future and plan how I can be an impactful leader in LIS and a champion for library and information services.
